INDOOR PLANT - Philodendron Cordatum in 20cm Pot Basket
Philodendrons were first discovered in Brazil’s rainforests. The name Philodendron comes from the Greek word phileo, meaning “to love” and dendron meaning “tree”. Philodendrons are a diverse genus made up of nearly 500 species, most commonly found in tropical, humid climates. In nature they are typically large and imposing plants, climbing other plants and growing on other trees.
While there are many different types of Philodendron, the most commonly seen and used indoors is the Philodendron Cordatum, commonly referred to as the Heart Leaf Philodendron. As the name would suggest this Philodendron has heart-shaped, green leaves that are typically about 4-6 cm across, although they can grow much larger outdoors if your climate allows. As a house-plant they can either be trained to climb, using a trellis or totem pole, or left to hang and vine.
Position your Heart Leaf Philodendron in bright indirect sunlight ensuring that it doesn't receive direct hot sun.
Water your Cordatum when the top 2-3 cm's of soil are dry to touch - the regularity of this will depend on the season and the spot you are growing your plant. When you do water it give it a good soak that all the root bed can access water - this will give you a strong and healthy plant. Then allow to dry before re-watering.
