INDOOR PLANT - Parlour Palm
This lovely plant with striking foliage was first discovered in Central America and is now one of the most popular indoor house palms around for the simple reasons that it is able to be grown in relatively low light and is robust and hardy.
The Parlour Palms' botanical name is the Chamaedorea Elegans and it sits in the same family group as coconuts and dates, which produce edible fruit from flowers at the top of the plant, this plant produces inedible fruit from flowers at the base of the plant!
Thrives in medium to bright indirect light and can tolerate low indirect light. Not suited for intense, direct sun.
Allow the top of the soil to just dry out before re-watering. A full wetting of all the soil every 1-2 weeks during the growing season (less in winter) is best to ensure all the roots can access moisture. The foliage will also thank you for misting it occasionally to help keep tips from drying out.
