OUTDOOR PLANT - Madagascan Palm in 13cm Pot
Pachypodium Lamerei, or Madagascar Palm is a flowering plant native to, as the name would suggest, the African island of Madagascar.
The Madagascan Palm is neither a cactus or a palm tree! The barrel stem of the plant is covered with thick spines. It carries an umbrella of shiny green leaves at the top of the trunk with small white flowers between the leaves over the warmer months.
Care of the Madagascan Palm is that of a cactus -after all it is used to the hot conditions of its tropical island home.
Give it as much warmth and sun as possible - preferable outdoors but can tolerate being inside in a super bright spot.
The Madagascan Palm is drought tolerant, holding water inside it's trunk to last over winter - water only when the soil is dry through and hold off watering all together over winter when the leaves fall off (don't worry they will reappear when the weather warms up!).
WE RECCOMMEND PLANTING IN...
Your Madagascan Palm will love being planting straight into your garden provided you have nice free flowing soil. If potted choose a pot with a drainage hole and ensure you use potting mix suitable for cactus & succulents.
** Please note all of our plants are hand selected for their quality and individual character. The Madagascan Palm you receive may not be the exact one pictured but it will be of equal quality.
