INDOOR PLANT - Devils Ivy Snow Queen in 9.5cm Pot
Everyone knows this one! The ever versatile and hardy Devils Ivy! Devil’s Ivy (Epipremnum aureum) should be one of the first plants on your wish list when starting out on your indoor plant growing journey. We often recommend them to customers in-store as their 'starter' plant as they are easy to grow, satisfying to propagate, super tough and easy on the eye!
They can be trained to be grown up using their aerial roots to cling onto coir totems or stakes. They can hang low from a shelf or bookcase and easily grow several meters a year. They can also be used to climb across a wall using clear plastic plant hooks.
Devils Ivy is really the ultimate trailing houseplant that comes in a variety of leaf patterns and colours. It is also considered one of the most effective indoor air purifiers for removing common toxins! This is truly a wonderful, virtually indestructible, generous houseplant!
This little 9.5cm beauty is a slight variation on the traditional green / yellow leaved Ivy. Named the Snow Queen it has highly variegated leaves that are more cream-colored than green. This bright trailing plant has stunning marble foliage, creating an eye-catching showpiece in any room. Due to the deep variegation, this plant prefers growing in bright, indirect sunlight.
They’re super tough plants, which will thrive in a brightly lit spot indoors that is protected from direct sunlight, however they’re also tolerant of more dimly lit areas. They’ll also do well in humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens. In nature they would be on the bottom of a forest floor, latching themselves onto tree trunks and climbing, so they are used to dabbled sunlight and periods without light. The less regular light they receive the darker the leaf is likely to become.
Allow the top of the soil to dry out before re-watering. A full wetting of all the soil every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (less in winter) is best to ensure all the roots can access moisture.
WE RECOMMENDING PLANTING IN...
Devils Ivy do best when they are a little pot bound. Too much soil and they tend to flounder a little and become 'leggy'. Choose a pot that is equal to a few centimetres bigger than its current size. Make sure you select on an aesthetic choice as you shouldn't need to re-pot your Ivy for a couple of years. As always we recommend a pot with drainage for best water management. A size medium Collectors Gro Pot would make a lovely choice with this Marble Queen plant.
