INDOOR PLANT - Asplenium Osaka 'Birds Nest Fern'
Bird's nest ferns (Asplenium nidus) are naturally epiphytic, meaning they grow on the surface of other plants. In their rainforest homes, they can be found growing high in the crooks of trees (giving the appearance of a lush green jungle birds nest). The Osaka grows in an upright rosette of long apple-green shiny leaves with a frilled rippled edge.
Birds's nests ferns will enjoy a spot that is partly shaded with some filtered sunlight during the day. Avoid full afternoon sun.
Bird's Nest Ferns like to be kept moist, but not wet. This means top them up with a little water whenever the top soil is starting to get dry. Aim water at the soil to avoid wetting the fern's fronds and don’t let them sit in soggy soil.
WE RECOMMEND PLANTING IN...
Anything that allows the plant to drain excess water. When selecting a pot ensure you allow enough room for the plant to grow - at a minimum add 3-5cm diameter. For example if buying a 13cm Birds Nest Fern select a pot that is 17-18cm. Ferns LOVE Mr Kitly Self Watering Pots
so these will always be our first recommendation.
