INDOOR PLANT or OUTDOOR PLANT - Sanseveria 'Fernwood' in 25cm pot
We are all probably familiar with the image and the name of this plant...'Mother-in-Law's Tongue'... due to it's huge popularity as a houseplant.
Mother-in-Law's Tongue, Sansevieria Trifasciata , also known as a snake plant, originates from West Africa but was first cultivated and kept as treasured houseplants in China because it was believed the eight gods bestowed their virtues (long life, prosperity, intelligence, beauty, art, poetry, health, and strength) upon those who grew the plant!
This delightful hybrid is called the Sanseveria 'Fernwood' and it is a more compact version with a lovely 'star' shaped leaf in a darker shade of green with off-white varigation's running throughout. It really is a beautiful variation.
Mother-in Law's Tongue plants can be very adaptable to where they are placed. Their happy place will be an area with bright natural light however they can tolerate lower light or full sun conditions. Can tolerate being outdoors in a sheltered warm location.
Let the soil dry out between waterings. During winter, reduce watering to monthly, or whenever the soil is dry to the touch. If choosing to over-water or under-water this plant always choose to under-water ... to much water can lead to your plant rotting.
WE RECOMMEND PLANTING IN...
This 25cm Mother-in-Law's Tongue plant would love the extra space of a 30cm Mr Kitly Self-Watering pot .
If ceramic is more your vibe placing this giant plant directly into a medium sized Alfie
(pictured in large) or Presley
pot would be a lovely choice.
** Please note all of our plants are hand selected for their quality and health. The Mother-in-Law's Tongue you receive may not be the exact one pictured but it will be of equal quality.
