Macho Fern

Macho by name Macho nature! These are some big ol' ferns ready to inject some lush jungle vibes straight into your home! 

The  Nephrolepsis biserrta or 'Macho' Fern is a tropical evergreen fern that can grow up to 1.8m x 1.8m in it's native environment! That's pretty impressive! It's native to tropical regions throughout the world where it grows in humid forests and swamps. It produces long palm fronds which weep gracefully creating a very tropical feel.

LIGHT

Give your Macho Fern a spot that gets bright, filtered light - a few feet from a lightly curtained window is ideal. Don't expose your fern to direct, mid-day sun, as it will likely burn its foliage.

A Macho Fern doesn't tolerate dryness well - try and keep it moist. A full wetting of all the soil frequently during the growing season (less in winter) is best to ensure all the roots can access moisture.  Macho Ferns do not like to be near a heater or fire as this drys them out too much. In fact they will prefer the increased humidity of a bathroom, laundry or kitchen more.  

As ferns like to remain a little moist a Self-Watering pot is idea. Choose from either a recycled plastic Mr Kitly pot or a ceramic Angus and Celeste Self-Watering pot.
